Church History
Jubilee was born in due season out of great vision, deep burden and prevailing prayers. God spoke Jubilee North America into existence by the word of prophecy. It all started when Pastor Mike Adebiyi landed on the shores of America in 1996 with a mandate to plant the Church in Georgia.
The general overseer of Jubilee Christian Church International, Rev (Dr) Kunle Adesina dispatched and anointed him and sent him forth. Soon after od began to open several doors for others. In no time Pastor Joseph Akiode soon joined in Maryland and the preparation began. Meanwhile Pastors Rotimi Oyewole and Jide Opaleye were already on ground with the understanding of the terrain.
In February 1998, another door was opened for me (Pastor Bisi Tofade) to migrate to the US; thus God brought all the key players in the establishment of Jubilee together to fulfill the spoken word of God.
The beginning was tough like any other pioneer work. Pastor Mike was attending the Redeemed Christian Church where he served as a deacon until 1998. He worked as a programmer with the state of Georgia during the day and taught computer class at spare time. God used this humble beginning to bring people into his life in preparation for the work in Atlanta. God used him to also establish a work place fellowship at the Georgia secretariat and God brought many lives to Christ.
At this time I was in Atlanta for a period of time, about programming and also planning with other Jubilee to inaugurate our First branch. The committee was born which eventually became the coordinating council of the church.
With great effort, prayers and a coalition of great and god-loving people, Pastor Mike braved the way for the inauguration of the first branch of Jubilee Christian Church in Atlanta Georgia. Right at the onset, it was clear that the hand of God was on the church and the set man.
Within a very short time, the work began to grow in leaps and bounds; God was bringing great people into the work and it was expanding, from one rented building to another until the Lord provided a permanent building were the Church is now.
The following year, February 1999, the seed was planted in Maryland under the leadership of Pastor Joseph Akiode with the joint effort of the central planning committee. It was another evidence of the hand of God over Jubilee in North America. In no time the work began to grow and thrived well under Pastor Akiode and his wife. Then in August 2000 God added another branch to us at North Carolina which confIrmed what God already spoke into Jubilee.
We held our first national convention in July 2000 in Atlanta and od's presence was tremendously great. We have since held eight conventions more. It was clear from the onset that Jubilee was built on love, unity and the truth of God's Word. Under the direction of the Holy Spirit and leadership of Pastor Mike, Glory Tabernacle, a second branch in Marietta was born in 2002 and was pastored by Pastor and Mrs Ben Ayeni. Pastor Jide & Toyin Opaleye are currently pastoring this branch and with the help of God a new and permanent building is almost completed to the glory of God.
God was not finished with us yet for in 2004 Jubilee Christian Church New Orleans was born under Pastor Rotimi Oyewole and his wife Moji. The Church in New Orleans waxed great and strong until Katrina struck in August 2005.
The Lord yet again added another branch to us in Monroe GA which started as a house fellowship in 2006 and Church in 2007. Pastor Isaac Fabunmi is currently the pastor.
The story will not be completed without mentioning a new work just starting by Pastor & Mrs Rotimi Oyewole in Lawrenceville, GA
The work of Jubilee in North America prospered in a large of the backing of the General Overseer of the church and lots of prayer support from the International headquarters.
